This study evaluates food reformulation efforts in Germany's breakfast cereal market from 2019 to 2022 using the Nutri-Score. Children's cereals showed a 25.5% sugar reduction and 32% fat increase, while non-children's cereals showed an 8.7% sugar reduction and 7% fat increase. Improvements in the Nutri-Score were observed in some products, particularly children's cereals reformulated to achieve better scores. However, most changes resulted from new product introductions rather than reformulation. Findings emphasize the need for reformulation alongside consumer education to achieve public health benefits.
