This FAO report highlights the global challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in food and agriculture and the One Health approach to combating it.
        •        Key AMR Challenges in Food Systems:
        •        Overuse of antibiotics in livestock and aquaculture contributes to resistant bacteria.
        •        Lack of surveillance and data on AMR in agrifood sectors.
        •        Growing risk of foodborne AMR infections in humans.
        •        FAO’s Approach to AMR Mitigation:
        •        Global AMR Action Plan 2021-2025, promoting responsible antimicrobial use.
        •        Strengthening governance and surveillance through international partnerships.
        •        Promoting alternatives to antibiotics, such as probiotics and improved farm management.

The report urges stronger policy enforcement, private sector collaboration, and investment in AMR research .
