This letter addresses the importance of a sex- and gender-informed approach in nutrition research, especially for transgender and gender nonconforming (TGNC) individuals. Highlighting gaps in dietary intake research and validity of nutrition assessment methods for TGNC populations, the authors advocate for implementing the Sex and Gender Equity in Research (SAGER) guidelines. Adopting these practices could improve data relevance and inclusivity in studies, ultimately advancing the understanding of TGNC-specific nutritional needs.
