This study examines the relationship between dietary and supplemental intake of vitamin C, E, folate, and beta-carotene and overall mortality among 55,453 Danish adults. Findings indicate no significant impact of dietary intake of these micronutrients on mortality. However, supplemental folic acid intake was linked to an increased risk of mortality. Smoking and alcohol intake modified some of these associations, but BMI did not. The study suggests careful consideration of supplemental folic acid intake due to its association with higher mortality.
