This study investigates the relationship between depression, diet, probiotics, and liver health. Analyzing data from 92 participants in a randomized clinical trial, the study examines how probiotics, combined with dietary habits, influence liver-related outcomes in patients with depression. Results indicate that probiotics, when paired with a diet high in cereals and low in sweets, significantly improve liver health markers. Additionally, probiotics were particularly effective in individuals with high intestinal permeability, suggesting a potential protective effect against liver conditions in those with "leaky gut" syndrome.
