This Delphi study investigated expert consensus on maternal nutrition across preconception, pregnancy, and lactation. A panel of 35 experts in obstetrics, nutrition, and public health participated in a two-round web-based survey.

Key findings:

Strong consensus on supplementing iron and vitamin D from preconception through lactation.
Folic acid and iodine supplementation were agreed upon through preconception and the second and third trimesters, respectively.
DHA supplementation was recommended from the first trimester through lactation.
Calcium supplementation was emphasized during lactation.
Guidelines for maternal nutrition remain inconsistent, necessitating standardized global recommendations.
The study underscores the need for education and clearer guidelines on micronutrient intake during pregnancy to improve maternal and child health outcomes.
