This one page infographic by the World Resources Institute shows that in order to sustainably feed 9.6 billion people by 2050 three needs must be met at the same time: 28% of the global population must be employed by agriculture, global greenhouse gas emissions from land use change and agriculture must drop from the current level of 24%, and an increase in food calories by 69% is needed in order to close the food gap. This is part of the outcome of a broader global initiative spearheaded at the World Economic Forum focused on cross sectoral partnership to tackle food loss and waste.
