This study evaluates body composition and biochemical markers in adults with phenylketonuria (PKU), a metabolic disorder requiring a phenylalanine-restricted diet. Findings indicate PKU patients do not show higher obesity rates than healthy controls but consume fewer carbohydrates and total calories. Poor dietary adherence is linked to higher rates of overweight and abdominal obesity, stressing the importance of long-term monitoring and tailored nutrition therapy.
