This study investigates dietary intake levels of Vitamin A5—a newly identified vitamin critical for mental health and neurological function—in Western countries. Vitamin A5, mainly derived from 9-cis-beta-carotene in fruits and vegetables, is vital for RXR signaling in the brain. Findings show that most populations in Western Europe consume less than the recommended 1.1 mg/day of Vitamin A5, with Italy having the highest intake and Austria the lowest. The study suggests fortification and supplementation to bridge this nutritional gap.
