This study evaluates the effectiveness of nutrition education based on the Health Belief Model (HBM) in improving dietary intake among pregnant Afghan immigrant women in Iran. The research included 116 participants, randomly assigned to intervention and control groups. The intervention group received four sessions (45–60 minutes each) of nutrition education.
Results show a significant increase in energy, protein, carbohydrate, and micronutrient intake (iron, calcium, zinc, vitamin D) in the intervention group one month after the intervention. In contrast, nutrient intake decreased in the control group. The study suggests that HBM-based education can effectively improve nutritional intake during pregnancy, promoting better maternal and fetal health.
