This study explores disparities in breast milk feeding practices for very preterm babies across neonatal units in England. Staff from units with high breast milk feeding rates highlighted dedicated infant feeding specialists, team accountability, and integrated care models as key facilitators. Units with low rates faced challenges such as limited staffing, inadequate facilities, and insufficient training. Recommendations include enhanced leadership, comprehensive staff training, and the adoption of quality improvement tools to support breastfeeding.
