This study investigated the association between seafood intake during childhood and adolescence and the risk of obesity using data from the China Health and Nutrition Survey (1997-2015). The research analyzed 2,206 participants, revealing that during an average follow-up of 7.9 years, high seafood consumers exhibited a 35% lower risk of overweight/obesity and a 26% lower risk of abdominal obesity compared to non-consumers, after adjusting for various sociodemographic and lifestyle factors. Notably, the consumption of boiled seafood was linked to a 43% reduction in overweight/obesity risk and a 23% reduction in abdominal obesity risk, while stir-fried seafood did not show a significant association.
