Focus on the political and commercial drivers behind the double burden of malnutrition

Recent blog from IFPRI suggests a stronger focus on the commercial determinants of malnutrition is needed.

In this blog, the author reacts to the recently published Lancet Series on The Double Burden of Malnutrition, and how it fits within the global discussions around healthy and sustainable food systems. He calls for greater attention to the "political and commercial drivers behind the double burden, and to the way in which different forms of inequity drive food system dysfunctionality." He reiterates other suggestions that a framework convention on ultra-processed foods could be useful, especially as momentum builds towards the 2020 Tokyo Nutrition for Growth Summit.
