Canada launches first ever food policy

“Everyone at the Table!” Government of Canada announces the first ever Food Policy for Canada

After extensive consultation and collaboration with more than 45,000 Canadians - including food producers and processors, experts in environment, health and food security, Indigenous groups, non-government organizations, and community advocates - Canada has launched its first ever food policy. The vision for the Food Policy for Canada developed through these consultations is: All people in Canada are able to access a sufficient amount of safe, nutritious and culturally diverse food. Canada’s food system is resilient and innovative, sustains our environment, and supports our economy. To learn more, read the press release.

In addition to the policy, Canada's food guide is now available in 28 languages. Along with a great visual representation of what a healthy plate should look like (see below), there are helpful tips, recipes and resources to help everyone make healthy choices and build good food habits. For more information, check out Canada's food guide.
