Series 2: Workshop: Partnerships for Systemic Change – Driving Food Systems Diversification in Kenya
11 June 2025, Naivasha (Kenya)
Building on January’s county-level dialogues, this second workshop digs deeper into practical strategies for accelerating food systems diversification across five focus counties in Kenya. Hosted by Nutrition Connect, GAIN Kenya, IFSS and Glocolearning, it brings together county government officials, private-sector actors, development partners, civil-society representatives, researchers and farmer groups to co-create localized solutions and cement multi-sector collaborations.
Through plenaries and breakout group work, we aim to:
- Co-craft 2050 visions for resilient, diversified food systems in Nairobi, Machakos, Kiambu, Nakuru and Nyandarua.
- Identify systemic & place-specific barriers hindering diversification.
- Bundle actionable strategies—from policy levers to climate-smart finance—to tackle those barriers.
- Strengthen county-level partnerships for sustained implementation, monitoring and scale
Expected Outcomes:
- County-specific visions and backcasting roadmaps
- Prioritized barriers with clear mitigation pathways
- A network of strengthened collaborations across sectors
- Documentation in a policy brief, insights summary and infographic
Together, we will generate strategic recommendations to guide advocacy, investment and policy—advancing Kenya’s journey toward a more sustainable, equitable and diversified food future.
