This study evaluates the impact of maize-soybean crop rotation on the nutritional value of maize in the North-Western Free State, South Africa. Over three growing seasons, maize grown after soybean showed higher fibre and total digestible nutritional (TDN) values, particularly in wetter years. This rotational system also enhances soil health and provides a balanced diet by pairing maize with protein-rich soybeans. Findings suggest that integrating soybeans into maize cropping systems can combat malnutrition and promote sustainable agriculture.
