This cross-sectional study examined 117 bariatric surgery candidates to identify dietary patterns (DPs) and their association with obesity severity and body composition. Three DPs were identified: “Prudent,” “Fast Food, Convenience Food & Alcohol,” and “Sandwiches & Sweets.” The Prudent DP was associated with healthier body composition, while the other patterns correlated with higher visceral fat and obesity. The study concludes that dietary behavior before surgery predicts postoperative outcomes and highlights the need for tailored nutritional interventions based on pre-surgery eating habits.
