This article details India's contextualization of the MAMI (Management of At-risk Mothers and Infants under six months) Care Pathway. It covers consultations from 2018 to 2021, pilot programs across three states, and the development of a national guideline for early growth failure in infants. A tailored set of interventions was introduced, such as enhanced growth monitoring, home-based care, maternal mental health integration, and use of MUAC and WAZ indicators.
Key recommendations include enhancing frontline worker counseling skills, improving GMP activities, and better equipping NRCs. The article offers implementation insights, criteria for growth failure diagnosis, and inter-state case studies. This approach aims to standardize care for at-risk infants through scalable, system-linked models embedded within public health services.
