Towards Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security in Latin America and the Caribbean in Response to the Global Food Crisis

Prepared by ECLAC, this report examines how the region’s food systems are affected by the compounding global crises including the war in Ukraine, climate shocks, and supply chain disruptions. It reviews structural vulnerabilities like fertilizer dependence, cereal import reliance, and rural inequality. The paper proposes a regional food security plan that strengthens agricultural production, trade, public investment, and support for smallholders while balancing macroeconomic and fiscal constraints.
