This study examined whether liver- or intestine-specific deletion of liver fatty acid-binding protein (LFABP) induces a metabolically healthy obese (MHO) phenotype in female mice. Mice lacking LFABP in either tissue had higher fat mass and body weight but maintained normal glucose and insulin levels, improved exercise capacity, and reduced hepatic fat accumulation. These findings suggest that tissue-specific LFABP deletion confers partial metabolic benefits seen in whole-body knockouts, offering insight into targeted obesity treatment strategies.
