The article examines how varying spacings of Populus deltoides trees impact soil organic carbon (SOC) and nutrient levels when intercropped with wheat. Results show that a 3×3 meter spacing yields the highest improvements in SOC, nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium compared to wider spacings and sole cropping. The study emphasizes that denser tree plantations can significantly improve soil fertility in semi-arid regions.
