Increased climate resilience of rural households and communities through rehabilitation of production landscapes in Cuba – Evaluation Highlights

This evaluation of a Green Climate Fund (GCF)-supported project in Cuba (2020–2027) highlights efforts to rehabilitate degraded agricultural landscapes through agroforestry, silvopastoral systems, and reforestation. The project aims to increase climate resilience among rural populations and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Key successes include strong stakeholder engagement, adaptive management, and early evidence of ecosystem recovery. Delays due to COVID-19, procurement constraints, and fuel shortages hindered full implementation. Recommendations include strengthening monitoring tools, gender inclusion mechanisms, and scaling local leadership and knowledge sharing.
