The article discusses the diverse food environments (FEs) in the Solomon Islands and their critical role in shaping food security and nutrition outcomes. It presents a typology of six primary FEs—wild, cultivated, kin/community, formal retail, informal retail, and food aid—showing how each contributes differently to national food acquisition. The study emphasizes the importance of using this typology in household surveys to better target interventions for reducing malnutrition and non-communicable diseases.
