FAO’s Work on Gender in Forestry

This document outlines FAO’s gender strategy in the forestry sector, focusing on empowering women in forest-dependent communities through policy, training, and land tenure reforms. It promotes gender-sensitive forest governance, entrepreneurship, and data collection, guided by global treaties such as CEDAW and the FAO Policy on Gender Equality (2020–2030). The publication also highlights field-level practices, community forestry, and REDD+ implementation as entry points for gender equity and sustainability.
