The article presents a methodological approach to adjust household consumption and expenditure survey (HCES) data for estimating the prevalence of nutrient inadequacy (PoNI). It details how to correct for measurement errors and excess variability using methods adapted from the FAO's food security monitoring techniques. Findings suggest that properly adjusted household-level data can provide useful estimates for nutrients inadequacy in the absence of large-scale individual dietary surveys, although differences in estimates compared to individual data persist.
