The CASCADE (Catalyzing Strengthened Policy Action for Healthy Diets and Resilience) project in Uganda aims to combat malnutrition and food insecurity by improving access to nutritious diets, particularly for women of reproductive age and children. It is implemented across 15 districts and 3 cities through partnerships with CARE, GAIN, and local institutions. The project focuses on nutrition policy engagement, private sector involvement, women’s empowerment, civil society engagement, and data-driven decision-making. Achievements include increased nutrition financing, expanded SUN Business Network membership, and development of community-based innovations like Madara gardens. The program has reached over 1.4 million people and significantly improved dietary diversity and resilience.
