COVID-19 and its impact on food security in the Near East and North Africa: How to respond?

This report from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) provides an overview of the impact of COVID-19 on the region and useful tables of the supply and demand shocks related to the virus in countries across North Africa and the Middle East. The paper proposes six areas for reform to improve supply chains, underpinned by greater international collaboration and institutional coordination. The paper gives recommendations for public private  engagement and for greater roles for civil society in decision making. There is also a summary of recommendations for upscaling digital agriculture and innovation to support smallholder production, which is of relevance to both public and private actors.
