This article from the New Food Economy gives a helpful analysis of a recent study on Foods and Beverages Obtained at Worksites in the United States. The study looks at how much money people spend on food at work, how often they eat work and the dietary quality of these foods - as well as how this varies across demographics. Unsurprisingly, findings suggest that most US employees consume foods that are high in solid fat, added sugars, or sodium - with about the same nutritional value as average fast food menu options. But knowing that almost a quarter of adults consume food at work, this offers an opportunity to shift behaviour towards healthier eating habits and stem the growing rates of overweight, obesity and related NCDs.
