This paper reviews 41 workforce nutrition interventions published between 1995 and 2006 in the South African Journal of Clinical Nutrition. The review gives an overview of best practice for clinical, behavioural, and psychosocial outcomes. The article gives a helpful breakdown of success factors, however the longevity of nutrition related behaviour change is harder to account for. Elements that resulted in successful programmes included: combing nutrition with physical activity; involving dieticians in nutrition education; increased availability and promotion of healthy food options in on-site cafeteria/canteens; individual feedback on nutrition; lower cost of healthy foods in vending machines; and the stages of change theory supported positive outcomes.
