The "Menu of actions to shape urban food environments for improved nutrition" has been developed by GAIN, the Milan Urban Food Policy Pact (MUFPP) Secretariat and the RUAF Foundation. It provides examples of policies and programmes that cities around the globe could introduce to tackle the nutrition-related problems they face.

In addition to providing helpful observations and lessons for cities, the menu options are divided into four categories, each with a supporting case study:

  1. Shaping the food environment: Physical access | Case study: “Improving food access by supporting urban agriculture and supply chains in Quelimane (Mozambique)”
  2. Shaping the food environment: Desirability | Case study: “A ban on unhealthy food advertising across the transport system in London (UK)”
  3. Shaping the food environment: Affordability | Case study: “Fixing the price of fresh fruit and vegetables in Curitiba (Brazil)”
  4. Strengthening coordination around healthier diets | Case study: “A multi-stakeholder forum to develop the Food Security and Nutrition Action Plan in Surabaya (Indonesia)”
