Large scale food fortification in India. The journey so far and the road ahead

Nearly half of India’s population suffer from micronutrient deficiency. With this in mind, The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India rallied stakeholders across government, industry, food business, development partners, scientists, and academia to come together at a National Summit on Food fortification in October 2016. This comprehensive report details the discussions at this summit, the challenge and regulatory environment in India, alongside collaborative efforts to tackle micronutrient deficiency. India’s 3C Strategy is outlined: Convergence across relevant central ministries and state government and other partners, Collaboration across all sectors, and Communication to build consumer awareness and behaviour change.
