The process of transporting food from rural, agricultural landscapes to consumers can be long and complex. Shortening this food supply can can help reduce food waste, feed more people and use less energy. In addition to making improvements in supply chain logistics, alternative food networks that bring producers and consumers closer together can also help lead to improved nutrition.
