Commercialisation assessment: Biofortified crops

In 2018, GAIN and HarvestPlus created a partnership with the shared ambition to expand coverage of biofortified nutrient dense foods to at least 200 million consumers. The aim of this partnership is to scale up the commercialisation of biofortified foods by working with different businesses across the food system and along the food value chain. Dalberg was commissioned to review the effectiveness of this strategy for nine specific crops. Each report is based on literature review, interviews with relevant stakeholders and a small number of focus groups. They are intended to highlight barriers to and opportunities for commercialisation, rather than serve as systematic reviews of the whole value chain.
